Luke moved to Hillcrest in May 1995 with his husband David from Vashon Island, WA, and volunteered for many years with SD Pride as a photographer. In 2009 he discovered that Hillcrest has a voice and it is called the Hillcrest Town Council. He served on the Steering Committee for the HTC throughout 2009-2010, and in 2010 was elected to HTC's Board. Luke is in the second year of his second term and serves as the group's chair.

Kath moved to San Diego in 2004 and has never looked back. She earned a degree in History from University of California San Diego. While there, she served as a history tutor to students in two of San Diego's low income schools. Kath worked as a community organizer, helping to pass Prop 35 (against human trafficking), Prop 2 (humane treatment of animals on factory farms) and is currently working on a campaign to promote clean energy. She is in law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and plans to pursue a career in public interest law.

Mark both lives and works in Hillcrest. He is a resident of the Uptown District and works in administration a few blocks away at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Prior to moving to San Diego, he and his partner, Craig, lived for many years in West Hollywood, where Mark served as a director on the board of the West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation and as a commissioner on the Human Services Commission. Among his passions are senior services, low-income housing and liberal politics.

Currently working as the Director of Community Outreach at the San Diego LGBT Community Center, Cartwright has long been involved in San Diego’s LGBT community, volunteering for numerous organizations including San Diego Pride, Stonewall Citizens Patrol, and Stepping Stone. He has written for local publications for over 10 years, including Update, Gay & Lesbian Times, HillQuest, San Diego Gay & Lesbian News, and Gay San Diego. He has attended and participated in HTC activities for many years, and in March 2015 was appointed to the Board of Directors.  He now serves as Secretary.
